“The Days Are Long, But Its The Fashion That Brings Us”
Here we are, Melbourne Fashion Week 2024 (Street Style Edition). The second of two large fashion events, That grace Melbourne during the year.
It’s also the start of the good weather season! With people coming out of winter hibernation to sport there best outfits and collections. Officially we have the spring racing carnival to kick off spring fashion season but you could almost say MFW is the unofficial start to the spring style season.

“The Big Three O”
Starting in 1994. Melbourne Fashion Week brought Australia’s first fashion week into existence. With Melbourne Fashion Festival and Sydney’s Australian Fashion Week following two years later, in 1996.
So where would such a special event be held? Melbourne Town Hall of course. With all its victorian bluestone architecture to go along with it!

But what about the Fashion? Well, there was plenty of style to be had with the crowds gathering up to a hour before the each show. Whether acquired through thrifting, purchase, borrowing, or lending, the diverse styles and individuality of each outfit were captivating to observe and photograph. It was also a good chance to catch up with familiar faces and connect with new ones, with the final night having perfect Melbourne weather.

Street Style dominated the fashion week’s discourse of 2024, permeating both print publications and social media platforms. The allure of the street’s latest fashion trends even surpassing (somewhat) the grandeur of runway events! Showcasing the enduring popularity of street style as a defining force in contemporary fashion.
